There are four major fields in the electrical science: electronics, control, power and telecommunications. Everyone of them shares a lot of basic common knowledge, after which everyone of them goes their own separate way. But although good engineers are experts in one of the fields, they should also know a little of others, as to design every system, one should know what chips and components to use, how to provide power to a system, how to control the behavior of a system and how different blocks communicate to each other and to the outside world.
